Friday, On Saturday {book of the week}

November 13, 2010 § Leave a comment

The last time I checked, it was still technically autumn.  Sometime during the night though we were apparently thrown into the middle of winter, as we woke up to inches upon inches of snow that has covered everything in sight.  Also, last night I let the kids stay up 1.5 hours later than I usually do.   Hmm.  It definitely appears that time is being messed with this weekend.

That’s ok though, because it’s Fun on Friday.  On Saturday.

Many of you may already be familiar with the author of this week’s featured book, as this name has become intricately linked with the term Little Critter, the fury and feisty character in Just Go To Bed by Mercer Mayer, published by Scholastic. If you’re a parent, odds are you can relate to the title of this book, if not the entire storyline.  Count me in the latter, as I’m fairly certain that Mayer must have been secretly observing my family from somewhere high up in the rafters.  How else would he have gotten the inspiration to write this book?  ;o) Just Go to Bed (Little Critter) (Pictureback(R)) (0033500819407): Mercer Mayer: Books.

As you might have guessed, this Little Critter is one little critter that does not, in any way, shape or form, want to go to bed.

Nope.  No way.  No how.  He’s got better things to do.

In an effort of persuasion, Daddy Critter tries playing along, doing his best to redirect his not-quite-willing-to-be-redirected-yet son.  Hmm.   This does sound familiar ….

As does this…

But thankfully, thankfully so does this.

So, while this quaint little story might not solve every bedtime problem known to man, it will at least give us sleep deprived parents a chance to chuckle at it.  (I suppose the kids will rather enjoy it too ;o)

Happy “Friday”, and Happy Reading!

*Just a note:  I have become an “Amazon Associate,” which basically means that for any purchases the someone makes from a link provided on my blog, Amazon will pay me a ‘thank you for advertising’ fee.  To me, it seemed like a very friendly way of a sidewalk artist passing a hat — if you’re enjoying the blog and Fun on Friday, simply make a purchase on Amazon from one of the links provided on my blog.  Anything counts, even if it’s not the “advertised product,” whether it be a book, some play dough, or that new camera that you’ve been drooling over.  A big thank you to those who choose to contribute with their purchases, it truly means a lot, and will provide a secondary method of supporting my photography business.  I’m thrilled that so many are enjoying this little publication, and I look forward to having a lot more Fun on Friday! :)
