Got Rhythm? {book of the week}

November 19, 2010 § 2 Comments

“A told B, and B told C, I’ll meet you at the top of the coconut tree!”

When he was younger, Liam wasn’t exactly thrilled to sit still for any length of time and listen to a book…..he had very different notions about what he should be doing.  (Most of which involved either playing with Jade, bugging Jade, or hiding from Jade — and primarily in that order.)  This meant that maintaining a level of interest in our one-on-one reading time was going to take a bit more effort on my part, so when things looked desperate, I would pull out my secret weapon that has never failed me:  Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr. With it’s catchy beat, it had us reading with rhythm in no time.  More importantly, it had one very captivated toddler who was still young enough to truly enjoy jamming with his rapper mama.  (Sadly though, my beat box skillz haven’t improved much over the years.  Yo.)

Amazon.com: Chicka Chicka Boom Boom: Anniversary Edition 9781416990918: Bill Martin Jr., John Archambault, Lois Ehlert: Books.

The only question left I suppose is …..”Chicka chicka boom boom, will there be enough ROOM?” (Emphasis Liam’s.)

Happy Reading!
