Piling Up {book of the week}

January 14, 2011 § 2 Comments

So.  This is what life is like in a snow globe.

If you’re a reader from the MN/WI (etc.) area then you know exactly what I’m talking about — snow, snow, snow, with a little extra snow on the side, and more snow on the way.  It’s an indefinite winter wonderland, delivered right to your front door  (odds are it will drift there too) and no picture book sums it up better than Let It Snow by Maryann Cocca-Leffler.

Amazon.com: Let It Snow (9780545208802): Maryann Cocca-Leffler: Books.

This little charmer is written perfectly for beginner readers at the preschool level — brilliant images combine with clever rhyme in this simply told story of winter, and oddly enough leaves no stone unturned.  From highlights such as ice skating …

…to winter’s less “award-winning” moments.

Alas, such is the season — an undeniable rollercoaster of fun and frostbite, but always with a happy (*spoiler alert*) spring ending.  Until then though… it might be a good idea to keep a pair of snowshoes handy :)

Happy Reading!
